Md Shahriar Islam

Md Shahriar is currently pursuing his PhD in Geography within the TEEL Lab. He earned both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Geography and Environment from Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh, where he was awarded a National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship to model evacuation behaviors in flash flood-prone communities. Before starting his doctoral studies, Shahriar worked as a Research Consultant at CEGIS to develop integrated collaborative forest management plans. Additionally, he served as a Research Assistant focused on modeling forest health and microclimates to improve ecological restoration. His current research bridges mathematics and ecology to quantify forest fragmentation and microclimate buffering, exploring the resilience of Pacific Northwest forests.
