Honorine Ihimbazwe

Honorine Ihimbazwe is a conservation scientist from Rwanda with extensive experience in biodiversity research, primate conservation, and ecological fieldwork in Volcanoes National Park. She received her B.Sc. in Biology, with a focus on Botany and Conservation, from the University of Rwanda and an M.Sc. in Plant and Fungal Taxonomy, Diversity, and Conservation from Queen Mary University of London.

 Honorine has worked in biodiversity and primate conservation, with a particular focus on ecological monitoring and conservation research in Volcanoes National Park, a habitat for mountain gorillas in Rwanda. Her professional experience includes biodiversity assessment, plant and animal ecology, habitat studies, conservation education, and applied ecological research.

 Her research interests include ecology, conservation, and environmental policy, with a particular interest in political ecology and understanding how environmental governance, institutions, and human decision-making shape conservation outcomes. She is also interested in using ecological research and spatial approaches to inform evidence-based conservation strategies and policies that support biodiversity, ecosystem resilience, and sustainable environmental management.
