Is salvage logging and replanting necessary in the Klamath Mountains?

Our research published in Forest Ecology and Mangement in Nov 2018 found that field sites that were unmanaged (natural regeneration) were distinguishable from managed sites (i.e. locations that were salvage logged and replanted) after a high severity wildfire. We recommend that forest managers should avoid applying the same post-fire management practices everywhere and should instead tailor practices to specific objectives and the landscape context.
